ups and downs
Posted by: Chris @ 9:05 pm

everyday have had some breeze. enough to kite, enough at points to windsurf, great for the boats. mornings and evenings as the usual pattern goes this time of year with a lull around the middle of the day. Max around 19kn lunchtime lulls 12ish.

island is busy. Sailsports north is still quiet. have to get some more signage and put an add in the paper. have some kiters up there this week. good place for kiting as the beach is wide open and usually more side on than town.

Great morning over on the lagoon side.

Gustavo tried to go out on his 15 and was so over powered. English Mike tried to go out on his 13 peter lyne foil and was so over powered. both moved down to 9m kites. Justin got riding after on his first session. congrats on the marriage. Lee started going up wind for the first time.? The water is so flat it is? ridiculous.

the rest of the boys couldnt come out and play - picho was mending golf carts, johnny had a traffic committee meeting to go to and Matt was busy with guests.

This afternoon the wind first died then changed round to sideshore and picked up to 12-13kn. Lee went out again but this time windsurfing. big stuff.

Phil came round at lunch hoping for wind after listening to Luton Town Football club lose. Afraid they may not be moving up to the premier league this year.

cold front, rain and wind

Rain for the first time is a couple of months hurray- only 0.22″ or so the weather station said. more tonight. plants are happy. us windsport people will be happy tomorrow as it will be 15-25kn. will probably take a group over to the lagoon side to the sand bar.

North has been quiet. will pick up over time.

Tom  and his wife arrived from the UK yesterday. came through Cancun to get a better deal on flights - only $300US return between the uk and cancun. Best way to get here from europe although takes and extra 1/2 day on the bus the day after the flight.

Another few good days of breeze. Sunday, monday and today. hopefully more tomorrow. Locals are loving it. Blair is back and had the waves all to himself on a 4.7 over powered, I had kiting lessons so could only watch.. lovely English/Canadian family all out having fun riding on a 5m kite. Kevin ” remember the blue strap”..

Lee and Jamie are down visiting. Another old friend James from New York was here for a couple of days after being on a Yoga retreat in Costa Rica.

Trying to get some prices together for some kite surfari’s for next year - a little bit like the Dr Fun windsurfing trip we put tother a couple of years ago but mainly with kiters although there is no reason why windsurfers cant come.  two or three nights out at the atolls on a boat, downwinders to Caye Caulker, over the back to Blackadore caye. should be a blast.

more great days..

Been having too many great days to be able to get the computer to write about it. Days of 4.2 - 5.1 weather waves - best for a while - breaking far out, so along by the channel marker they had reformed and were breaking again smooth as silk and 6ft faces. No diving for about a week - no weeping from our beach. Poor old Blair had to go back up to the stated for 5 days and has missed the best of it.

Jim and Alan had a good week and even managed to get them?out early for an hour or so before they jumped 9.30am flights home at the weekend. Bill had fun - wind was a bit much for him, compared to his usual in Pennsylvania.

Weather has calmed down a little bit 12-17kn today. still great. kiters out learning and riding. Boats going out.

Island is pretty busy. Kelly and Mugul from Blue water grill, Phoenix got married the weekend. Had a big bash last night which half the island attended - they sure do know how to throw a good party. Best to both of them.

North has been closed for a couple of days?suffereing from some staffing problems and too windy to let any of the boats out. Will be open again tomorrow.

Races and more
Posted by: Chris @ 11:19 pm

Had a great “race series” on Saturday. Jim, Alan and Sam all here on packages all joined in and Gabriel managed a lap. Even my dad who is here for a few weeks with my mum joined in. We had a little bit of breeze so almost planing on the Starboard starts. Highlights - start line antics, phil dragging the upwind mark not one but twice then falling onto jims board. he said it was a jump as jim passed him at the finish line but all on the beach thought it was a fall. Gabriel getting out and completing his first race.

Had some breeze but not a whole lot. enough for some kiting and some 7.8 weather. forecast predicting 20ish for the next 3 or 4 days which will be lovely. can hear it starting to blow already.

Have opened up north @ the Essene way. finally. only 2 months after we had planned it… Belize time… Have taken one of the hobie waves, the pico and some of the windsurfing kit. will add more as it grows. it will be open daily from 9 till 4.30 or 5pm. Either Jr, Gabriel or I will be up there so if anyone is staying up at North - captain morgans, Belizean shores, white sands, Journeys end come and say hi. Beaches are there are more open than town so easier kite launches.

A weak cold front crossed over the country today bringing a couple of days of light wind. sunny and hot, good for hobies and kayaks and thats about it.

finished the booth at  the Essene way and Elder and I were up there today fixing the bodega for sails etc. Races tomorrow so hope to have Sailsports North open on Monday.

the UDP won all the municipal elections yesterday. a big blow to the ruling PUP party.
